Elana Skye - Female, 30-something, Hylian living in Ordon. Raised in the town after her parents left her there while they traveled their trading routes. Parents returned often to visit but eventually disappeared on one of their trips. They preferred Ordon to Kakariko and Castle Town as they thought Elana could learn valuable skills there, and they weren't wrong. Elana lived in town, staying in a side room in one of the townspeople's houses. She learned how to help around at various jobs, though never particularly excelling at any of them except swordplay. Defended the town from various monsters and eventually began making excursions into Faron Woods, exploring for the sake of curiosity and preemptive planning. Disappeared a year before the events of Twilight Princess on one such excursion.

Knows quite a bit about the woods and monsters found in it. Knows swordplay but only in a street-smart capacity; no formal training.

Kidnapped by Zant's forces as they scouted out Faron Woods. Taken to Hyrule Castle in much the same manner as Link, i.e. knocked out and dragged there. Zant attempted to push the Twili prophecy (?) of the blue-eyed beast to occur by transforming a Hylian into a beast and proceeding to destroy said Hylian. However, after going through with it he found Elana neither fit the prophecy nor had any usefulness to him. In forcing her out of the spirit form that Hylians usually take when affected by twilight, he also laid down spellwork irreparable by anything except something as powerful as a piece of the triforce. At this time twilight had spread throughout most of the Lanayru province, so Zant released her to do as she pleased, albeit in beast form. Unable to leave the twilight or return to her normal form, as well as mentally addled by all that had happened to her, she was reduced to wandering aimlessly and hiding whenever Zant or his minions were nearby.

Elana was in Eldin when light was returned to the province. She learned the hard way that she was unable to return to human form by leaving the twilight; after being chased out of both Kakariko and Ordon, she returned to the twilit areas, even less pleased with her situation than she had been before. When Link returned light to the Lanayru province, Zant had Elana retrieved and sent to the twilight realm for safekeeping. He preferred to avoid the chance of Link running into her and gaining any advantages from whatever she might know. Not that she knew anything that would benefit the hero. When prisoner in the twilight realm she became acquainted with Damien, eventually cooperating with her to help them both escape Zant's control. They traveled through the mirror of twilight to the light realm, but soon found that a twili and a beast had very little ability to learn of a way to fix either of their conditions. After seeking help from the light spirit Ordon and travelling to the successive light spirits, they learned of the hero Link and his quest to save Hyrule.
Possible ending???
As they had no access to the master sword or any other light realm artifacts, they traveled back to the twilight realm in search of other answers. Theoretically, Midna is able to remove the twilit taint from Elana and Damien and send Elana back to the light realm. Needs work ew this is so gross but it's all I've got right now.

Damien - Female, 14 or 15, Twili from poorer area of the twilight realm. Proficient in thievery, pickpocketing especially. Some magical ability, specifically in the area of controlling objects. No love for the twili royalty. Took on the appearance of being male for various reasons, including some protection from less honorable older twili and so she'd have less trouble pursuing female love interests.

Made the mistake of stealing an important object from Zant. Object was a device he had created to steal power from the dominion rod. Damien accidentally activated the object and the magic was released, affecting her hands and altering her magical abilities so that objects affected by her magic display runes (similar to how the dominion rod lights up statues). This was a painful experience and occupied her enough for Zant to find her and capture her. Unable to separate the dominion rod's magic from Damien's, Zant instead removed all of Damien's power except for what had combined with the foreign magic, relegating her to an imp form. After some persuasion (read: thinly veiled threats about leaving her to die) Damien used her abilities to remove the sols from their usual locations and hide them deep inside Zant's complex. The stone hands that hold the sols are under her control and she's tasked with retrieving the sols from anyone who might steal them.

Eventually Damien meets Elana and they bust out of that joint, escaping to the light realm. Ending has yet to be figured out.

Vultan - Male, 30-something at time of death, Skyloftian who never made it as a knight due to his missing arm. An incident with a skytail resulted in the injury of his loftwing and the loss of his right arm. When part of Skyloft fell into Hyrule, he was one of the first to begin exploring the rest of the world below the clouds. Died in the desert after inadequately preparing himself for the trip; his loftwing accompanied him and perished as well when it couldn't be persuaded to leave.

Long after the Gerudo had come and gone, poes and stalfos began to move into the desert. A poe created from Vultan's disgruntled spirit was there to meet them, and found that the other poes were hospitable enough given that none of them recalled all that much of their lives. Upon finding that there was no real order to the poes or stalfos other than the stallord in the absence of a demon king or other ruler, Vultan's poe seized the opportunity to take command of some of the less motivated poes. Through a few decades of ordering poes around and consolidating the power he gathered through making deals with mortals, he was able to rise above the usual limitations of poes and take his Skyloftian form. Anyone with particularly good senses would be able to tell that he's a poe, but the illusion worked for the average Hylian. In a bid to gain power over the stalfos as well, Vultan sealed his poe self into the inactive body of a higher-level stalfos. He gained a physical body and still was able to call forth the illusion of his Skyloftian form, but the magic holding the stalfos together affected him, further corrupting him and causing him to push his leadership into more of a dictatorship. Since then he has spread his underlings throughout Hyrule, and every once in a while takes a trip to see how well he can pass among Hylians.

His illusion can't hide the entirety of his stalfos form; the arm he was missing while he was alive is back, but only the bones. To counter this he wears a glove in his illusioned form.

Siofe - Male, 20-something, pompous Sheikah asshole. His heart's in the right place most of the time, but he's basically one of the last of his people in the TP era and has a bit of a superiority complex about it. He's also very cocky about his abilities, to the point where his outfit isn't optimal for combat or stealth but he believes that he can get away with it 'cause he's just that good. He's got a minor mastery of magic, though it's generally limited to bolts of energy and some small illusions. He feels an enormous amount of pressure (whether real or imagined, he's not sure) to adhere to the culture and ideals that've been given to him, so he's got very few things that he feels like he's allowed to do for himself. Aka he feels obligated to not just give up on all this and just go live in Castle Town like a Hylian. The Sheikah have a long history of protecting the royal family, and despite the fact that they are no longer in close contact with the princess or anyone in the castle, what few of them are left still monitor the general goings-on in Hyrule and do their best to destroy any threats that might come up.

Siofe had honestly not been taught a lot besides combat and how to hide well before being sent out to gather information. The low number of Sheikah trying to work for their common goal meant that he was rarely around others. He's become very used to not having any friends or acquaintances, and he was never really even attached to his parents given that they were often busy as well. After a good number of years he's also learned to be almost invisible when hiding, as that's most of what he does. He spends long stretches of time away from the Hidden Village.

Within the range of time that TP occurs, monsters attack the Hidden Village and most remaining Sheikah are picked off, often when investigating fused shadow pieces. Siofe has an excellent sense of self-preservation and sticks to smaller issues, for example bridges disappearing. He is never anywhere near Zant, but still begins to develop a basic understanding of twilit magic through what he observes of its effect. He's within Hyrule's twilight up until it's entirely eradicated, at which point he tries to return to the Hidden Village and finds it taken over by monsters. He ends up getting the hell out of there after realizing he's outnumbered (though likely receives some arrow-induced injuries) and... doesn't return for a good long while. He throws a pity party for a little bit and has no idea what to do with himself since he can't help Hyrule all alone, then eventually gets wind of a hero doing that for him and returns to his information gathering. He never actually meets said hero or is in any way tracking his progress, but is rather waiting for a day when his information will be useful.

Provides information for Elana and Damien in return for info on Twili and what little they know of Zant. His relatively vast knowledge of things he's observed means he can give them suggestions on possible fixes to their issues. May end up tagging along with them in the hopes of getting to see light spirits or something.

Characters yet to write down: Raymond, Nann, Basmutt, creepy-ass anglerfish Zora
Undergoing editing but I needed to write this stuff down before I forgot it all again, Seria has yet to be added but she and Cys will likely be undergoing a loooot of redoing Seria and Cys are a mess and are the last thing I'm worried about right now tbh, still in the process of redesigning Cys
Not worrying about non-LoZ characters in this either, superhero ocs will be addressed somewhere else
